Will my child miss class time for tutoring?
OnYourMark tutoring time blocks are selected by campus leaders in alignment with the campus bell schedule. Core instructional time will remain the focus of your child's day, with OnYourMark tutoring sessions supplementing the literacy instruction already in place.
How do virtual tutors build relationships with young children?
Our tutors specialize in virtual engagement methods, using techniques like:

How are tutors trained?
Before ever starting a tutoring session with students, every OnYourMark tutor completes an intensive preparation course. This pre-service ‘bootcamp’ includes a minimum of 22 hours of training in:
- Science of Reading fundamentals, from phonemic awareness to comprehension
- Culturally responsive instruction and strategies for multilingual learners
- Virtual engagement techniques, like reading subtle cues through a screen
And because we believe in continuous improvement, OnYourMark is the industry leader in professional development for tutors. OnYourMark tutors receive weekly workshops on data-driven instruction and coaching with personalized feedback.
Are tutors available for tutoring outside of school hours?
OnYourMark coordinates directly with your child’s school to schedule virtual tutoring sessions during the school day. Tutors are scheduled during this time and are not available outside of school hours.
Should you want additional information for tutoring help outside of the school day, please contact your school for local resources.
What if my child struggles with technology?
No tech skills needed! We provide:
- Tech support to campuses throughout the school day
- Simple one-click access for students (no passwords)

How quickly will we see progress?

Will I receive reports about my child’s progress?
Certainly! OnYourMark provides monthly student progress reports to campus leaders. The progress monitoring reports include the following for each student:
